My name is Shani B., I’ve created this blog as a place to share my insight and expertise in relation to career development.

As a 20 something year old with two degrees, some may think I have this whole life thing all figured out. Well see in school, you know the outcomes; you work, you get good grades, you graduate.

In life, there are no grades, there’s work, everyone seems to be working, everyone seems to be doing so well, but how do you get there? How do you become successful?

I often ask people what advice would you have given your 25 year old self? And of course people will say what they wish they knew, save money, try new things, travel, etc.

But the truth is, you know you best. You have all the answers within you. Whether you decide to listen or not is up to you. Stop trying to be other people. Be you!

It’s ok if you start something, determine you don’t like it and move to the next thing, the most important thing is to start! So this is me starting.

Most of what I post will be based on my own experiences along my career journey and the knowledge I've gained having worked in career centers for nearly a decade!

I am a Miami native who relocated to Washington, DC two years ago. I am currently working as a higher education professional.

Some things to expect are candid career tips along with my real life experiences. It is my hope that each post educates, empowers or elevates you in someway.
